About Shoe Widths
Posted on January 15, 2012 | No CommentsDear Shoe Lady, If my width is a D then is it a wide or double wide for your site? Hi Trish, That is an excellent question. I know these things can be a bit confusing sometimes! But, to make things easier, our website is designed to correlate to the actual sizes you would see in stores. A ‘D’ is always considered wide, which is sometimes referred to as a ‘W’. Check out this link for for more information on width! Also, if you’re looking for a specific size/width, you can use our “Shop By” option on the left hand... -
Australian to US Shoe Size Conversion
Posted on January 5, 2012 | No CommentsDear Shoe Lady, I am about to purchase shoes but just want to confirm size conversions. I am Australian wearing size 7.5 to 8 dependent on style. I believe I am a US 8, but its the width I need to check on. I believe I am a C width shoe here in Australia.. which I believe is a wider fit….can you advise. Thank you Dee Dear Dee, I am so glad you came to us for help! Actually, an Australian women’s size 7.5 is equivalent to a US size 9, while the size 8 is a US size 9.5.... -
Wider Width Feet
Posted on December 30, 2011 | 2 CommentsDear Shoe Lady, I was so excited to find your website as the only shoes that fit my feet are thong sandals. I have measured my feet as your site describes, and the measurements are as follows: Length 24.5cm Width 11.75cm Please can you tell me what size I am? Kind regards, Michelle (Australia) Hi Michelle, We LOVE our Aussies! With a length of 24.5CM your size would be an 8.5 which equates to 26.4CM. Your shoe width however, is a bit tricky. An 8.5WW measures 11.1cm. You width is 11.75cm so I am afraid an 8.5WW will be too... -
Boots and Casual Shoes for Women’s Size 11 Wide
Posted on December 19, 2011 | No CommentsDear Shoe Lady, I have an 11 wide foot. Last winter I got frostbite at Christmas and then was diagnosed with Reynards Syndrome due to Fibromyalgia. I have to wear 2-4 pairs of socks in the winter and need a shoe that has lots of toe box, and last year wore a size 12 mens sneaker to have enough room. Do you have a recommendation for a casual dress shoe, possible lace up, and a warm boot that I can wear either with jeans or long dresses. Thanks so much! I just found your website and love what I see... -
Wide vs. Extra Wide Width
Posted on December 6, 2011 | No CommentsDear Shoe Lady, How do you know what size to order wide vs. extra wide? Dear Maddie, Thank you so much for your question! To achieve the most comfortable and accurate width fit you MUST measure the width of your feet. Women do not believe the width measurement is an important one but they couldn’t be more wrong! Think about the difference in inches between a wide and extra wide width. It’s 0.4 inches. Imagine having to cram your toes into a shoe that is a half an inch too small. Painful! The benefits of taking the time to measure... -
Sandals for a High Instep
Posted on December 5, 2011 | No CommentsDear Shoe Lady, Can you suggest some sandals that accommodate a high instep? I am traveling to Florida this winter and desperately need a new pair. I’m looking for sandals that are slightly dressy (1-2 inch heel) but also comfortable to walk in. I have good luck with Sofft shoes but they don’t always accommodate a high instep. I also have a wide toe area so I prefer either a wide width or a thong style. Dear Lu, Have you tried our shoes by Aerosoles? The brand is known for it’s comfort and most styles come in wide. I recommended... -
Shoes for Teachers
Posted on December 2, 2011 | No CommentsHello Shoe Lady, This is your sister again. I admit that I didn’t take the advice you offered last time I wrote. I succumbed to the ease of the washable shoes even though you recommended a nice mule. I’ve been on my feet teaching math here in Florida now for a few months. I’d like some comfortable, stylish shoes that I can wear throughout the school year. I’m looking for something with a 1″ heel in a cocoa brown color with a price that fits a teacher’s wallet and my short wide foot. Remember all those summers we went barefoot?... -

Posted on August 17, 2011 | 2 CommentsDear Shoe Lady, My feet are abnormally wide. I can never find the right shoe size. I am a 11.5 wide and I can never find shoes that look good on my feet, like dressy shoes and tennis shoes. Please help. ASAP. My Dear ASAP! Cute name! I too am a women’s size 11.5 and I can tell you, very few places make these sizes. So you need to learn how to think more flexibly about buying by size. First, some homework.
